Madras boys basketball’s seasoned leaders and rising stars puts 4A on notice

MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- On Tuesday night, the Madras White Buffaloes delivered a statement win, defeating the 5A Bend High Lava Bears in a gritty 62-55 showdown.

The White Buffaloes, led by senior Reed Simmelink, overcame the odds after losing key seniors from last year’s team that placed fourth in the state. This season, Simmelink and his fellow seniors have embraced the challenge, becoming the backbone of a team determined to remain a threat in 4A.

Simmelink showcased his leadership with 13 points, while junior Matthew Suppah Scott made his presence known in the paint, dominating with 17 points.

Suppah Scott and the underclassmen brought a fresh energy to the program, stepping up when their team needed it most. The blend of seasoned seniors and emerging talent has reenergized the White Buffaloes, proving they’re more than ready to contend this season.

Coming off a league championship, 5th-year head coach Nick Brown has full confidence in this team’s potential. Despite new faces on the roster, the White Buffaloes are focused on big goals as they gear up for league play next week.
