Wintry mix returns late Wednesday

The rain early Tuesday has been replaced by variably cloudy skies and some spotty showers.  The rest of the day and into the night the region should see some clearing, with just a few scattered showers east and north.

Wednesday will be a mix of clouds and sunshine as we keep an eye on an area of disturbance in the Pacific.  This feature is an area of low pressure that will bring in much cooler air along with the chance for some snow and rain. The snow and rain should hold off until later in the day as this pattern will take some time to develop.  The result will be a couple of inches of snow over the Cascades and a wintry mix at lower elevations.  The chance for any snow to accumulate will be low since we have been well above freezing for the last several days and although there may be some snow, it will mostly melt on the roads.  We may see an inch or so south of Lava Butte by the time Thursday morning rolls around.

Thursday will be partly cloudy and cool once the remnants of this low clears the area by early in the morning.

A noticeable warming trend begins Friday with highs in the middle 50s under sunny skies.  Saturday will see the mercury reach the low 60s before clouds arrive Sunday ahead of rain showers Monday. Temperatures will top out in the middle to upper 50s Sunday and Monday.

Please stay safe.
