SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) The City of Sisters says it's excited to announce the two finalists for the roundabout art installation at the US Highway 20 and Locust Street intersection. The selected artists are Karen Yank and Dan Chen. The finalist’s models will be displayed for public review and feedback at two locations:

  • Sisters Public Library: March 15–31
  • Sisters High School: April 2–4

Through Time

Eugene artist Dan Chen’s work “Through Time” consists of three interconnected circular sculptures representing the themes of past, present, and future, complemented by natural elements. An eagle flying across the highest circle sculpture will symbolize resilience and forward vision. These sculptures will integrate with the surrounding landscape to create a cohesive, meaningful representation of the Sisters community's rich history and vibrant future.

Pride of Place

Sandia Park, New Mexico resident Karen Yank’s piece features the Three Sisters’ snowcapped peak,s with a Red-Tailed Hawk soaring over this landscape. “Pride of Place” utilizes a circle, to reflect the horizon where the Earth meets the sky. The circle also symbolizes a lasso, referencing Sisters Rodeo and the long history of ranching in this unique location positioned between the Cascade Mountains and the High Desert.

The city expects to install the chosen artwork this fall.

Sisters says it "embraces art as a cornerstone of community identity. The US20 at Locust Street Roundabout promises to be not only a functional intersection but a vibrant landmark for residents and visitors alike. The project signifies a significant investment in Sisters' cultural landscape."
