80s across the high desert today, cooler and wetter for Mother’s day
Good news for those of you who love the summer heat! Today is the warmest day of the week. The high pressure ridge builds higher into our region and will have our temperatures sitting in the 80s this afternoon. La Pine and Sunriver will be trailing closely behind with upper 70s. You might notice a few extra clouds today and an afternoon breeze, helping to keep you cool for those hanging out outside. The trails, river, and town will likely be busy today, with everyone looking to soak up some sunshine!
Changes, however, are coming. Saturday is the “set up” day. Temperatures will remain warm, with highs in the 70s, but clouds will increase through the day. By Sunday, temperatures will cool back to near normal. Highs will be in the 60s and there is a chance for some rain.
For those of you with early morning Mother’s day plans, you shouldn’t have to worry too much about rain. Rain chances increase through the second half of the day. You don't need to plan for a wash out, but maybe bring a jacket with a hood just in case. Rain will be light and scattered, so you might get lucky and stay dry for the day.
Rain will continue into Monday as temperatures continue to cool. Monday looks to be the most impactful day for the tri-county area. Even then, you only have to worry about periods of light rain falling through the day. Gusty winds into early next week are in the forecast as this next system approaches.
Happy Friday! Have a nice day and a great weekend. Happy Mother’s Day!
