Bend man dies after being hit by truck in parking lot

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - A 71-year-old Bend man died Saturday after being struck by a pickup truck in a parking lot on Northeast 3rd Street, according to Bend Police.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at 660 NE 3rd Street around 2 p.m.
Upon arrival, they found the 71-year-old man lying on the ground after being hit by a white Toyota Tacoma.
The driver of the pickup, a 31-year-old Bend man, had moved his vehicle and remained at the scene.
Bend Fire & Rescue transported the injured man to St. Charles Bend, where he later died from his injuries.
Police cited the driver of the Toyota Tacoma for careless driving causing an accident.
It will be up to the District Attorney to file any additional charges. KTVZ has reached out to the D.A. for comment.
We also spoke to people in the area of the accident, and to a neighbor of the deceased man. They remembered him as a kind person.
