(Update: Agency can again process licenses, vehicle registrations)

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles reported a system outage for three hours on Monday that prevented the agency from issuing driver's licenses and other services, including vehicle registration.

"Oregon DMV is unable to issue licenses and ID cards, including REAL IDs, and vehicle registrations due to a system outage," the agency said in a brief notice on its website.

"This also affects our Express Kiosks. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience," the notice said.

KTVZ News reached out to the DMV, and a representative's initial reply indicated they are "still triaging" the situation.

Public Information Office Chris Crabb told us later: "This morning, a partner vendor issue contributed to an Oregon DMV system outage that prevented us from issuing licenses and ID cards, including REAL IDs, and vehicle registrations.

"We have triaged the issue and are now processing driver and vehicle transactions in field offices and online at DMV2U. Please note, our SMS text messaging functionality remains unavailable. We're working on restoring that service as we continue to monitor the overall issue."

Crabb told us the outage lasted about three hours, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
