Fire weather threat continues today with warm and breezy conditions

Temperatures will top out in the upper 70s and low 80s today under sunny skies. Winds will be breezy again, gusting between 20-25mph this afternoon from the northwest.

Fire danger continues, making for another day with difficult firefighting conditions. As of last night, the Alder Springs Fire remains at 0% containment but firefighters spent Tuesday aggressively trying to control the perimeter. KTVZ is closely monitoring the situation.

Air quality is good this morning but we’ll see worsening conditions this afternoon as the Alder Springs Fire is still actively producing smoke.

Our next system will start moving in tomorrow. Temperatures will drop into the low and mid 70s, putting us right about normal for this time of year. Friday, a big cool down is expected as highs will only reach the upper 50s and low to mid 60s. Rain will return late Friday with this system and continue through Saturday before tapering off Sunday.

You’ll want to plan for cool and rainy weather all weekend.

Have a happy Wednesday and be safe.
