TERREBONNE, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office conducted an inspection (May 26, 2025) at a residence in the 5000 block of 10th Street, Terrebonne, after receiving reports of livestock at large and concerns over the welfare of several animals. The animals, including dogs, cats, and chickens, were owned by Linda Evans, a Terrebonne resident currently on probation for a 2023 animal neglect case.
Evans had been found guilty of neglecting over 70 pigs and 16 goats in 2023 and was sentenced to a five-year probationary period.
During the inspection, deputies, assisted by a licensed veterinarian, evaluated 29 cows, more than 60 domestic fowl, 18 dogs, and 17 cats. Several of the cats were found in critical condition and required immediate medical care. In response, Brightside Animal Shelter staff helped remove 18 dogs and 8 cats, which were in the worst condition. Evans voluntarily relinquished ownership of the animals and cooperated with authorities throughout the process.
In the days following the inspection, deputies and animal control officers worked with Evans to remove the remaining cats. In total, 18 dogs and 17 cats were transported to Brightside Animal Shelter for veterinary care. Evans is also working with the authorities to relinquish ownership of the cows and chickens.
On June 11, 2025, Evans was cited for 17 counts of Animal Neglect in the Second Degree (ORS 167.325) and 1 count of Unlawful Tethering (ORS 167.343).
The case has been forwarded to the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office for further review.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office tells KTVZ News they want to thank the staff at Brightside Animal Shelter for their support and assistance in this investigation.
