Warm and sunny weekend, spotty storms next week

(KTVZ, Bend OR). Plenty of sunshine is expected today and Sunday with some storms brewing in the southeast corner of the state.

The normal high temperature for late July should hover around the middle 80s, and that is what is expected today and Sunday. There will be a light breeze under our sunny skies today as well.

Sunday will start out sunny, but as the day moves along there will be a few clouds building in the late afternoon. Crook County may see some storms in the late afternoon or early evening. If you are out late in the day east of the Prineville area, stay alert for a rogue pop-up storm or two.

Next week the pattern gets ahold of some moisture and there will be some spotty storms popping up each afternoon.  The heat will be back starting Monday as well as the mercury reaches the 90s into at least the middle of the week. The heat also helps to percolate the atmosphere adding another variable that may initiate some of the late day storms.

The storms will be isolated and disorganized but will pop and drop quickly.  These pop-up storms produce a good deal of rain in a short period of time and some areas may get overtaken for a brief period.  Keep an eye to the sky each day next week if you are out and about.

The storms increase in coverage area by Wednesday and Thursday and may be a bit more robust by mid-week as well.

Bottom line, enjoy the weekend ahead as the dry pattern is likely to be changing starting Monday.
