Pay it Forward: CASA of Central Oregon

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- Tonight we recognize CASA of Central Oregon. CASA stands for court appointed special advocates. These specially trained volunteers represent children in court. When children are abused or put in harm's way, CASA represents them throughout the legal process, acting as a voice for the voiceless.

Heather Dion of CASA told KTVZ News "We live in an incredibly generous community and the need for CASA volunteers is greater than ever. We currently have a very long wait lists of children who need a CASA volunteer with them during their time in foster care. So if anyone is at all interested in making a difference for children in foster care, we encourage them to please go to our website CASAofcentraloregon.org to learn more."

This $500 goes to training programs, so more volunteers can become a CASA. If you have the drive to help children navigate the court system you can sign up for one of the upcoming training sessions. The next ones are in Prineville on the 9th and in Bend on the 11th, so sign up now.
