Play for Paige: The Dalles joins Crook County volleyball in a heartfelt tribute to Paige Wood

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ)- The high school volleyball season officially got underway Tuesday night, with several local teams taking the court.

Among them was Crook County, who faced off against former 4A rival The Dalles. While the Cowgirls fell in four sets, the match carried a much deeper meaning than the final score.

Both teams came together to honor Crook County’s Paige Wood, a Cowgirls volleyball player who suffered serious injuries in a car accident this summer. Players from both sides wore warm-up shirts reading “Play for Paige,” standing in solidarity with Wood and her family.

In recent weeks, the Central Oregon community has rallied around Paige through fundraisers and ongoing support. She has undergone several surgeries as part of her recovery, and her teammates are determined to keep her at the center of their season.

For Crook County, every match moving forward isn’t just about volleyball, it’s about playing for Paige.
