Hundreds report feeling weekend earthquake in the Willamette Valley

AMITY, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Over 200 people have reported feeling a 3.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Sunday morning in the Willamette Valley.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was recorded shortly before 8 a.m. about three miles southeast of Amity, a town of about 1,600 residents.

It occurred at a depth of about 15 kilometers, or nine miles.

As of midday Monday, 221 people had reported to the USGS that they felt the shaking.

The earthquake occurred in northwest Oregon, an area that occasionally experiences small quakes along minor faults north of the Willamette Valley, KGW reported. No aftershocks or related hazards were reported in the hours following the tremor.
