Rain, snow, and gusty winds through the second half of the week

BEND, Ore (KTVZ) -

A stray shower is possible early this morning but the rest of the day should be dry and variably cloudy with highs in the 40s and 50s. Mountain snow showers will continue.

A High Wind Warning will expire at 4pm today. The strongest winds happened overnight but remain pretty breezy this morning as you’re stepping outside. Winds will progressively calm into the afternoon.

A Winter Weather Advisory will also be active through 4pm tonight for the Cascades, eastern slopes, and areas south of Bend. Temperatures stayed very mild overnight due to rain and wind, so don’t count on any snow accumulating in the Tri-Counties. The mountains will pick up 3-6” today and strong winds will create visibility issues through the passes.

Rain and snow is expected to begin again overnight. Any snow overnight will turn to rain early Thursday and continue to fall as rain through the rest of the day. Gusty winds and moderate rainfall have us issuing another Local Alert Weather Day for Thursday. Rain totals could reach between 0.75-1.25”, with locally heavier amounts possible.

Rain continues through the first half of Friday with the potential for snow mingled in for some. Localized flooding, such as ponding on roads, might be something to watch out for by the end of the week.

While Saturday is briefly dry, rain and snow pick back up again Sunday. It looks like we’ll be seeing wet weather for an extended period of time which means we could see those mountains open up just after Christmas. We’ll continue to track future snowfall over the next week.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
