Brief clearing today, chances for spotty showers through the weekend

BEND, Ore (KTVZ) -

There is a chance for a little patchy ice this morning in Jefferson County but freezing rain and ice are more of a concern further north of the region.

Central Oregon will get a brief clearing today from the wet, misty weather. Skies will be partly cloudy and temperatures will be in the mid 40s to low 50s.

A passing shower is possible Saturday with increasing chances for rain and mix overnight into Sunday morning. The chance for spotty showers continues on Sunday. Temperatures stay mild heading into the weekend, so most of the precipitation will be rain but by Sunday morning, we could see a little more snow mingled in for high elevation areas. Highs will be in the 40s and lower 50s.

Sunday will be a pretty good day for mountain snow. I’m thinking the mountains will pick up between 8-12” over the course of the next few days–most of that falling on Sunday. Locally heavier amounts are possible at the peaks.

Periods of rain and snow will continue off and on next week. Temperatures are expected to cool progressively through the week. By mid week, temperatures will be near normal and the chance for snow will increase a bit. We’ll continue to track any incoming wintry weather on KTVZ News.

Happy Friday. Have a wonderful weekend.
