West Coast Health Alliance endorses updated immunization guidelines

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The West Coast Health Alliance (WCHA) is voicing strong support for the American Academy of Pediatrics’ newly updated immunization schedule for children and adolescents.

The alliance—which includes health organizations from Oregon, Washington, California and Hawaii—says there’s a broad scientific consensus on the safety and benefits of vaccines recommended in the 2026 schedule.

The American Academy of Pediatrics updates its childhood and adolescent immunization schedule each year to reflect the latest medical research and evidence-based safety data. The recommendations aim to protect families and communities from serious infectious diseases.

According to the West Coast Health Alliance, these immunization guidelines should continue to serve as the foundation for vaccines routinely recommended by health care providers, and as a framework for discussions between doctors and families.

The alliance says its endorsement underscores the importance of science-based public health guidance at a time when federal leadership and transparency have faced renewed scrutiny.

The 2026 recommendations continue to emphasize the proven role vaccines play in saving lives and preventing disease across the United States.
