Public invited to learn about CASA of Central Oregon’s impact on foster care system
The Deschutes League will host a public information session featuring CASA of Central Oregon on Feb. 5, 2026, to discuss advocacy for children in the regional foster care system. The free event will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Oregon in Bend.
Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, trains and supports volunteers who represent the interests of foster children in Central Oregon. The upcoming session aims to provide the public with an overview of the organization's regional impact and current programming.
Laura Fitzgerald, training and recruitment coordinator, and Kinsey Turnsplenty, senior program coordinator, will lead the presentation. The speakers will provide a history of the organization and updates on their current programs. Their work focuses on advocating for children specifically within the foster care systems of Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson counties.
The event schedule begins with the venue opening and sign-in at 11:30 a.m. League announcements are scheduled for 11:45 a.m., followed by the main presentation and a question-and-answer session at 12:00 p.m. The presentation is part of the Deschutes League's First Thursday public information series, which focuses on topics of public interest. While the event is free and does not require an RSVP, organizers noted that donations are appreciated to help cover the costs of the presentation series.
The presentation will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Oregon, located at 61980 Skyline Ranch Road in Bend. Information regarding joining the League of Women Voters of Deschutes County or making a donation is available through the organization's website.
