Sailor, the Super Bowl predicting dog, seeks forever home

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — Sailor, a 2-year-old dog at the Humane Society of Central Oregon, predicted the Patriots would win the Super Bowl this week while awaiting a permanent home. The dog has been at the shelter since Thanksgiving and is currently available for adoption with a sponsored fee.

The prediction is part of a weekly collaboration between the Humane Society and KTVZ News to highlight pets in need of homes. Shelter officials have characterized Sailor as an adventure dog who would be a good fit for a variety of households.

Sailor has been at the shelter for several months and has become a favorite among staff, volunteers and the general public. He is described as a fun-loving animal that often uses a variety of toys to entertain himself.

Lynne Ouchida of the Humane Society of Central Oregon said the organization is looking for a permanent home for the animal as the holiday approaches. "He's been with us since Thanksgiving and we would love nothing more than for sailor to find his forever home for Valentine's Day," Ouchida said.

To assist with the adoption process, Sailor's adoption fee has been sponsored. The shelter is also providing a gift basket to the individual or family that chooses to take him home.

The Humane Society of Central Oregon is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday. Visiting hours for those interested in meeting Sailor are from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Shelter officials hope to facilitate Sailor's adoption by Feb. 14. Prospective owners can visit the animal at the shelter during its regular operating hours.
