Oregon State Parks now hiring seasonal Park Rangers and Park Ranger Assistants for 2026 season

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Oregon State Parks announced Tuesday it is now hiring seasonal Park Rangers and Park Ranger Assistants for the 2026 season. The agency is recruiting for positions at parks across the state, with the hiring process beginning in February and continuing through June of 2026.

These seasonal roles typically last between four and nine months, with most staff working from April through September. While many positions follow that timeline, some employees may begin work as early as February or stay through December to ensure park areas remain clean and safe for visitors.

Staff members help visitors access world-class experiences and ensure clean and safe park areas for everyone to enjoy. are responsible for janitorial work, landscape maintenance, visitor education and visitor services. Positions are located in Oregon's coastal areas, scenic valleys and mountain regions. Seasonal employees gain skills by working alongside experienced Park Rangers at various sites throughout the state.

Salaries for seasonal assistants start at $20.28 per hour, while seasonal rangers earn at least $23.79 per hour. Both roles include a comprehensive benefits package with medical, vision and dental plans for employees and qualified family members. The positions also offer paid sick leave, vacation, personal leave and 11 paid holidays per year.

High school students ages 16 and older are also eligible to apply for seasonal roles. These student workers start at $20.27 per hour or more, depending on their previous experience.

The department highlights these seasonal positions as potential starting points for long-term careers. All three current Region Directors for Oregon State Parks began their employment with the agency as seasonal workers. Stefanie Coons, interim Director for Oregon State Parks, says the agency is focused on developing an engaged workforce and fostering a culture of belonging.
