Sunday Night Baseball is on NBC: Here’s what to know for the 2026 MLB season

By Logan Reardon (WNBC-TV)

NBC continues to own Sunday nights.

After two decades of Sunday Night Football, the network took over NBA coverage for Sunday Night Basketball this season. Now, it's time for another sport: Sunday Night Baseball.

The MLB season has arrived, and the biggest matchups and stars will be on NBC and Peacock every week. From Shohei Ohtani to Aaron Judge, expect to see plenty of action in 2026.

Here's everything you need to know for Sunday Night Baseball this season:

What is Sunday Night Baseball?

Sunday Night Baseball is the flagship weekly standalone MLB game.

From 1990 to 2025, Sunday Night Baseball was on ESPN. That will change in 2026, with NBC and Peacock taking over.

How to watch Sunday Night Baseball in 2026

Every Sunday Night Baseball game this season will air on either NBC or Peacock, or both simultaneously.

When does Sunday Night Baseball start?

The first game on a Sunday night is March 29, when the Seattle Mariners host the Cleveland Guardians.

Sunday Night Baseball technically begins on Opening Day (March 26), similar to how Sunday Night Football typically starts on the Thursday of Week 1. NBC and Peacock will have an Opening Day doubleheader, with the New York Mets hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What is the Sunday Night Baseball schedule for 2026?

Games will air on NBC and Peacock depending on the time of year.

At the beginning of the season, most Sunday Night Baseball games will be on Peacock as the NBA season wraps up. The games will be on NBC and Peacock throughout the summer before shifting back to Peacock in September when football begins.
