Bend High takes Civil War series with 5-2 win over Mtn. View

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- In a rivalry matchup dubbed the “Civil War,” the Bend Lava Bears and Mountain View Cougars entered with the series tied 1-1, but Bend pulled away for a 5-2 win to take the series. After a scoreless start, Quentin Romney sparked Bend in the second inning with a clutch two-RBI double to make it 2-0, though Mountain View answered with a sacrifice fly from Brody Conner. Bend’s offense stayed hot in the third, highlighted by extra-base hits from Cole Cooper and Spencer Dildine, helping extend the lead to 5-1. From there, Cooper dominated on the mound, pitching a complete game and shutting down Cougar threats, despite a late run in the seventh. With the bases loaded and tension rising, Bend held firm, sealing the win on a pop fly to cap off a strong all-around performance and improve to 7-2 in league play.
