THERE’S GOOD NEWS: Jefferson County first responders raise money for ‘KIDS Center’ through a chilly event

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Local first responders from Jefferson County participated in the inaugural 'Chilly Swim for Kids' on April 18th. The event, held at Lake Simtustus, raised money and tangible goods for the KIDS Center, a non-profit organization.

It was a polar bear plunge-type event, where participants dove into the chilly waters.

The fundraising swim took place in April, which is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month. This initiative holds particular significance for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, as its personnel frequently encounter child abuse cases firsthand in their duties.

The KIDS Center, the beneficiary of the event, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing life-changing services. It helps children and families overcome the devastating effects of child abuse.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office often collaborates with the KIDS Center to support affected children and families.

Those interested in contributing to the cause can still donate online. Donations can be made by searching "Chilly Swim for Kids- A KIDS Center Fundraiser" on Facebook, or by clicking here.
