Culver School District appoints Kevin Dinning as Superintendent

CULVER, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Culver School District Board of Education appointed Kevin Dinning as Superintendent of Schools. Dinning is set to officially assume his superintendent duties on July 1, 2026.
The Board of Education will conduct onboarding and transition activities with Dinning over the next couple of months. These activities include scheduling community and staff meet and greets.
Culver School District Board Board President Scott Leeper of Education, thanked stakeholders for their involvement in the superintendent search. He noted their input was invaluable in shaping the criteria for the next superintendent.
"On behalf of the Board, I just want to thank all the stakeholders, including students, who participated in the public engagement phase of the search. Your input was invaluable in shaping our Next Superintendent Criteria," Leeper said. He described Dinning as a "standout candidate from a very competitive applicant pool" and "the right person to lead Culver School District at this time." Leeper added that the board was struck by Dinning's values, his commitment to community engagement and his broad administrative experience, which included leadership in capital bond programs.
Dinning brings twelve years of experience in school administration to Culver. Since 2023, he has served as the director of Human Resources and elementary principal for the Pendleton School District. From 2021 to 2023, he held the positions of superintendent and secondary principal at Ione School District. His administrative background also includes roles as dean of students, athletic director, assistant principal and principal.
Dinning began his career in public education in 2009 as a substitute teacher, ELA teacher and athletic coach in Boundary County School District in Idaho, the district from which he graduated. He grew up in rural Idaho. Dinning is married to Heidi, who works as an elementary school librarian. They have two children, Henry, a 4th grader and Sofie, a 6th grader.
Dinning, the newly appointed Superintendent of Schools, expressed his family's excitement to join the community. "My family and I are incredibly excited to join the Culver community," Dinning said. "I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead a school district so devoted to its students and community. My focus will always be on high-quality instruction and ensuring every student has the support and opportunities they need to succeed." He added, "We can't wait to be Bulldogs!"
Dinning will officially assume his duties as Superintendent of Schools on July 1, 2026. Onboarding and transition activities, including meet and greets, are planned for the coming months.
