Dishwasher sparks kitchen fire in Sisters, firefighters contain blaze

SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District responded to a residential kitchen fire today, in the 69000 block of Goodrich Road in Sisters. The fire, which fire crews believe originated in a dishwasher, was quickly contained following a 911 call received at 1:04 p.m.

Responding Cloverdale firefighters arrived to find flames involving a kitchen island. Crews quickly knocked down the fire, preventing it from spreading beyond the immediate area. Although fire damage was limited to the kitchen area, smoke spread throughout the home, resulting in an estimated $125,000 in smoke damage throughout the structure. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters removed the dishwasher from the residence to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

The Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District received assistance at the scene from Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District, Black Butte Ranch Fire Department, Redmond Fire & Rescue, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Central Electric Cooperative.
