Filtered sunshine today, warming trend into the weekend

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Today will begin the warmup even as some mid to high level clouds arrive. These clouds will keep us from warming into the 80s most spots as I am forecasting upper 70s most locations. Areas north of Redmond will get there, but only by a degree or two. Winds will be light and variable.

Not much other than temperatures changing the rest of the week and into the weekend. Highs Friday hit the middle 80s followed by upper 80s over the weekend.

Saturday, the Fourth of July, will be very warm as we continue our run of clear and dry days. Highs will reach the upper 80s most locations. The forecast for Saturday evening will be for mostly clear skies and mild temperatures.  Evening temps will drop to the low 80s or upper 70s around 7pm and be in the upper 60s or low 70s at 10 pm for our area fireworks shows.

The long holiday weekend should not be hampered by any rain, although it would be nice to get some soaking rain this time of year. The dry and warmer pattern will remain into next week.

Sunday and Monday both have a chance for us to breach the 90-degree mark as I am forecasting upper 80s and low 90s.  The hottest day will be Monday with the mercury reaching 91.  Tuesday will be in the 90s as well so there may be a bona fide heat wave across central Oregon starting Sunday.  Three days in a row with highs at or above 90 qualifies as a heat wave here across the high desert.

Upper 80s are in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday of next week under partly cloudy skies.

Please, Stay safe.
