Trump challenges Supreme Court ruling on birthright citizenship

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KTVZ) -- President Donald Trump announced today that he will ask the Supreme Court to rehear a birthright citizenship case.

The announcement follows the High Court's ruling last week against President Trump's executive order, which sought to end birthright citizenship.

The Supreme Court can choose to rehear cases, but this is an extraordinarily rare occurrence. President Trump's petition will need to be filed within 25 days of the court's decision.

President Trump's legal team must file the petition within 25 days of the court's prior ruling.
