Increasing heat into midweek, areas of smoke possible

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - High pressure will continue building over the Pacific Northwest through midweek, bringing hotter temperatures to Central Oregon.

Highs will climb into the upper 80s and low 90s today under partly to mostly cloudy skies, with a slight chance for a passing shower. Be prepared for areas of smoke today as multiple wildfires continue to burn across the region.

Skies will be mostly cloudy overnight with lows dipping into the 50s and 60s.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed Central Oregon in the "general thunderstorm" category for tomorrow and Wednesday. A few non-severe storms are possible. Expect hotter weather with highs in the mid 90s both days as more monsoonal moisture moves up from the south.

After that, temperatures gradually ease heading into the weekend, but it will still be hot, with highs staying in the 90s through Sunday as quieter weather returns.

We're continuing to monitor elevated fire weather concerns through the week. Although some storms may bring helpful rain, they can also produce lightning and gusty winds that increase the risk of wildfire spread.
