Redmond community honors fallen firefighter with memorial blood drive

REDMOND, Ore. — Community members are rolling up their sleeves Friday at Redmond Fire & Rescue to honor the life of firefighter-paramedic Michael Kienzle while helping address a nationwide emergency blood shortage.

The memorial blood drive is being held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Redmond Fire & Rescue station on Northwest Dogwood Avenue. Organizers say every donation helps patients in need while continuing Kienzle’s legacy of service to the community. The drive comes as the American Red Cross says the country is facing an emergency blood shortage.
