The board meeting will address workforce needs and student government at the Prineville campus, while the Barber Library Rotunda Gallery will host an 11-artist exhibition featuring works from the High Desert Art League. A public reception for the art exhibition is scheduled for Sept. 24.
The COCC Board of Directors is scheduled to meet at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Prineville campus in Room 119, located at 510 SE Lynn Blvd. The meeting is open to the public and will stream live on the college's YouTube page. The High Desert Art League exhibition, titled “The Best of the High Desert Art League,” runs Sept. 16 through Dec. 6 at the Barber Library Rotunda Gallery. The show features paintings, prints and mixed-media works by 11 member artists: Pamela Beaverson, Helen Brown, Barbara Hudler Cella, Jan Dow, Janet Frost, Liz Haberman, Jacqueline Newbold, Vivian C. Olsen, Janice Rhodes, Rebecca Sentgeorge and Joren Traveller. Information regarding gallery hours was provided by staff writer Mark Russell Johnson of COCC Marketing and Public Relations.
Formed in 2000, the High Desert Art League operates as a professional artist group focused on supporting member development through exhibitions, education and community outreach. Frost serves as the president of the High Desert Art League.
“This amazing group of professional artists continues to create the most incredible work,” Frost said. “Although many of us are affiliated with various galleries and associations, High Desert Art League shows pull our creative wonders together into one show as a unique collective exhibit. The Barber Library's Rotunda is a wonderful venue for our show, with easy accessibility and a welcoming beautiful exhibit space.”
A public reception with refreshments will take place at the library from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24.
