Cool and rainy pattern remains, drying expected on Labor Day

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Cloudy, cool and rainy pattern will continue through Sunday. The area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere continues to be the driving force for the rain this weekend. Very little movement of that feature has the Pacific Northwest locked in the cloudy and wet scenario. Periods of rain persist.

Saturday will be variably cloudy with some light rain and drizzle defining the day.  Rain chances are in lower range so there will be some light rain from time to time, but not way a washout. There will be some sunshine but not a sunny day by any stretch. Highs will be in the middle to upper 60s, which is still well below the normal upper 70s for this time of year. Enjoy the cooler and damp conditions, it has been a long time coming.  If you are outside, just keep the rain gear handy.

Sunday will be much more of a rainy day as the low will be positioned in such a way where it will provide Central Oregon with light rain for most of the day. The clouds and light rain will not allow the mercury in the thermometer to rise much above the mid-60s, so break out the hoodies and maybe a flannel shirt.

There may be a few strikes of lightning over the first two days of the holiday weekend, but not many. If you hear the rumble of thunder, get to a safe place. 

Monday, Labor Day, will be mostly dry and mild with highs in the low 70s.  The low will finally be out of the region and the skies will be partly to mostly sunny.  The early morning hours may still be impacted by the low with some cloud cover, but we will start to dry out and warm up. 

Enjoy your holiday weekend, the rain is a welcomed sight for farmers and firefighters, and others who enjoy the wet weather. 

Tuesday will continue the dry pattern as high pressure begins to become the dominant feature over the PacNW.  Upper 70s will be obtained Tuesday ahead of low 80s on Wednesday. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies will best define the conditions both days.

Changing sky conditions arrive Thursday with partly to mostly cloudy weather. Highs will still hit the low 80s ahead of some cooler and rainy weather slated for Friday and Saturday next week.
