Final 2026 community shred event scheduled for this Saturday in Terrebonne

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Republic Services will host the final Community Shred Event of 2026 this Saturday, Sept. 19, in Terrebonne. The free residential service offers local community members a way to dispose of personal documents securely.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at Terrebonne Community School, located at 1199 B Ave in Terrebonne. Operations will run during those hours or until the shredding truck reaches full capacity.

Organizers are limiting document collection to no more than four boxes per household. Paperwork may still have staples and paper clips attached, but plastic bags and three-ring binders cannot be processed. Residents with more than four boxes of documents can contact Republic Services at 541-352-2263 to arrange separate disposal options.

The Sheriff's Office is also offering safe medication disposal during the event. Accepted items include prescription medications, patches, ointments, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, samples and pet medications. Prohibited items include sharps, thermometers, inhalers, aerosols and other pressurized containers.

Attendants will also collect worn or tattered American flags for proper retirement. Additionally, non-perishable food donations will be gathered on-site for distribution to a local food bank.
