Dry and warm pattern takes over in time for the weekend

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Plenty of sunshine as we move forward through the weekend. The area of low pressure that generated light rain with a few pockets of moderate rain yesterday is off to the east. There is a ridge of high pressure off the coast that will provide us with drier and warmer conditions through at least Monday.

The last weekend of summer 2026 will be dry and warm. The last two weekends were wet and chilly, this weekend will be warm and dry.

Saturday will be a mostly sunny day as the mercury in the thermometer rises near 80-degrees. Most locations will see the upper 70s but a few may hit the 80° mark. Bend should be one of the 80° locations tomorrow which will begin a run of four days with highs in the 80s.

Sunday will be similar to Saturday as the region remains in the grips of a dry and above normal weather setup. Highs should be a couple degrees warmer Sunday versus Saturday and the sunshine will be abundant.

Monday is the last full day of the Astronomical Summer as the season comes to an end Tuesday. This will be a warm and dry day as well with the weather conditions similar to Sunday. It was a very warm summer this year and the area experienced record wildfire activity as far as acreage burned. We are still not out of wildfire season yet, but the recent rains have helped with the dry fuel on the ground.

Autumn begins on Tuesday as the direct rays of the sun cross the equator at 5:05 pm pacific time. This is known as the Autumnal Equinox and marks the day when we have equal parts daylight and darkness. After Tuesday there will be longer nights and shorter daylight hours.

Tuesday will be slightly cooler but still on the warm side with highs in the low 80s. Sky conditions will be partly cloudy. This will repeat on Wednesday, but just a couple degrees cooler in the upper 70s.  Wednesday marks an end to the 80-degree day run of four, but is still a few degrees above the normal 74 (in Bend) for this time of year.

Current longer-range forecasts have us getting back into the 80s on Thursday so we will still hang on to the summer-feel for a little longer before we dive into the fall-feel by the end of the month.
