Stage one fire restrictions will be lifted across Central Oregon lands

CENTRAL OREGON (KTVZ) -- Central Oregon fire officials will lift Stage one Public Use Fire Restrictions across several public land areas starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25. The decision follows a reduction in the regional fire danger rating level to moderate on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

The end of Stage one restrictions applies to the Deschutes National Forest, Ochoco National Forest, Crooked River National Grassland and Prineville District Bureau of Land Management. Officials cited increased moisture, cooler temperatures and decreased daylight hours as the factors allowing for the change.

Elevational fire restrictions will remain active for wilderness areas within the Deschutes National Forest.

Members of the public can access information regarding current fire restrictions by calling the Central Oregon Fire Use Information Line at 1-800-523-4737. Wildfire updates are also available online at centraloregonfire.org or on X at @CentralORfire. Smoke and air quality reports can be viewed at fire.airnow.gov, and emergency reports of wildfires should be made to 9-1-1.

The Prineville District Bureau of Land Management will keep River Corridor restrictions in effect through Oct. 15. Restrictions in the La Pine Basin are scheduled to remain active until Oct. 31.
