BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A 65-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing items from a market east of Bend, hitting the building with his vehicle and resisting arrest, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office.

William Joseph Demmon, who has no known address, was taken into custody following the incident at the Alfalfa Market Store on Willard Road.

Store workers reported that Demmon took items without paying, walked outside, confronted customers, and entered his vehicle around 8:40 a.m. As he attempted to drive away, his vehicle struck and damaged the store's awning, flower boxes and surrounding landscaping.

Following the confrontation at the store, deputies arrived and arrested Demmon, reporting that he resisted arrest before being taken to the Deschutes County Adult Jail.

Authorities booked Demmon on charges of attempted assault on a peace officer, first-degree trespass, third-degree theft, reckless endangering, second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and third-degree criminal mischief. Deputies also impounded his vehicle after determining he was driving without insurance.

The Sheriff's Office reported that deputies have responded to 11 calls for service involving Demmon over the past two weeks.

On September 27th, deputies responded to Grace Bible Church in Bend when staff requested that Demmon be trespassed from the property. Demmon left the church but returned approximately 30 minutes later, resulting in his arrest for trespassing.

On Monday, October 5th, Demmon drove to the residence of a local deputy while the deputy was on duty. According to the Sheriff's Office, Demmon verbally harassed and threatened a member of the deputy's family and made statements referencing weapons.

Deputies from the Crook County Sheriff's Office later contacted Demmon and issued a trespass order from the deputy's residence. During that contact, Demmon stated he knew the address of another local law enforcement officer, leading authorities to notify partner agencies.
