Cooler temps, breezier winds and a slight chance of showers this weekend

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Happy Friday!

Summer-like warmth is making its exit as cooler weather moves into Central Oregon. Get ready for a much more fall-like feel as a cold front moves through the region.

Expect mostly clear skies to start your Friday with clouds increasing by the afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 60s and low 70s with breezy to windy conditions.

The High Desert will likely stay dry today, with a chance for showers in the Cascades later.

A Freeze Watch is in effect for parts of Central Oregon late Friday night through Saturday morning. Some areas have already dropped below freezing this season, but freezing temperatures could become more widespread this weekend.

Freezing temperatures can damage or kill crops and sensitive plants, so cover outdoor plants or bring them inside before temperatures drop into the 20s and low 30s.

Much cooler air settles in for the weekend with highs in the 50s on Saturday and Sunday.

Shower chances remain low both days, but a few flurries are a possibility for the High Desert. Snow accumulation looks limited to elevations above 5,000 feet.

Tomorrow looks partly cloudy to mostly sunny, but we could see increasing clouds on Sunday.

Expect Monday to be sunny and cool with highs in the mid 50s. We could return to the low 60s by Tuesday with limited shower potential.
