Invasive cheatgrass treatment scheduled for 24 acres of Dry Canyon

REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Happening next, Redmond Parks crews will treat about 24 acres of the Dry Canyon for cheatgrass next Monday and Tuesday, weather permitting.

The invasive weed dries out early and can create dense fuel that allows wildfires to spread quickly.

The work will start near the Wastewater Treatment Facility and move south toward Maple Bridge.

People are asked to stay out of treated areas until the spray dries, which takes about an hour. Look for signs at area entrances.

Again, this is happening next Monday and Tuesday.
