Bend-La Pine Schools to offer livestreams of Silver Rail Elementary families and community engagement sessions

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Bend-La Pine Schools has posted links where the public can view Wednesday evening's engagement session with Silver Rail Elementary School families and Thursday evening's session for the broader community.

Joining together this Thursday: Community engagement session livestream link and survey reminder

Dear Bend-La Pine Schools community,

As we prepare to come together this Thursday, Nov. 5, we are sharing the livestream link and inviting you to share your thoughts through our community survey beforehand.

Our focus is to listen, to address your questions and concerns directly, and to support one another as a community.

Event Details

• Thursday, Nov. 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Pilot Butte Middle School (1501 NE Neff Road, Bend)
• Listen/watch the session: Livestream link
• Share questions and comments in advance: Community survey
• Spanish interpretation will be available both in person and on the livestream.

What to Expect at the Session

District leadership and school board members will be present alongside representatives from the Bend Police Department to listen, take note of your concerns, and answer questions. To ensure our conversation is guided with care and trauma-informed expertise, facilitators from the National Mass Violence Center (NMVC) will lead the evening, and counselors from Deschutes County Behavioral Health Services will be on site to offer personal mental health support.

Please note that Pilot Butte has a maximum in-person capacity of 400 people. For anyone unable to attend in person, the livestream link will be active throughout the evening. Local news media will be present. 

How to Share Your Voice

Even if you cannot be with us in person, your perspective is important. In partnership with the Donovan Group, we have created a short survey to collect your thoughts, priorities, and questions. Questions submitted through the survey will help shape the session, and we will also welcome live questions during the evening.
