TERREBONNE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A Smith Rock climber was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after falling about 20 feet late Sunday afternoon, officials said.

Redmond Fire & Rescue firefighter-paramedics responded around 4:15 p.m. to the accident at the state park, along with Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police troopers.

Fire Captain Ken Brown said the climber fell while ascending the Chain Reaction route at the Christian Brothers climbing area.

Crews were on scene for about an hour, assessing and treating the climber’s injuries and taking the victim from the scene to a waiting ambulance, which took the climber to St. Charles Redmond.
