Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend closed in wake of school deicision
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 After School Program. BGCB will continue to monitor public health guidelines and government restrictions in preparation for its summer program beginning in June.
The announcement comes the day after Governor Kate Brown extended school closures through the end of the school year.
“The extended closure of our Club puts our organization, and nearly every nonprofit, in a vulnerable position,” indicated Juliana Williams, BGCB executive director. “We know many of our families are struggling financially during this time, so we are committed to providing refunds and credits during this closure period. We are posting resources weekly on our website to inform families about COVID-19 relief initiatives including free meals and other services.”
Refunds for fees paid in advance will be given to members with accounts in good standing. These will be automatic and there is no need to contact the business office.
BGCB expects to give nearly $30,000 in refunds to families and is asking those that are able and willing to convert their payments into a donation by emailing Presley Quon, Business Manager: pquon@bgcbend.org
“We’ve served a critical role in the community for 25 years and know that our work will be more critical than ever when we are able to safely reopen,” Williams continued.
As the situation develops and more information is available, BGCB will continue to communicate updates through email, social media and its website (www.bgcbend.org). Facebook and Instagram at @bgcbend.
