Softball registration now; youth softball, lacrosse may happen, too

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- This spring is far from typical, but some summer activities are moving forward, in hopes that residents will be able to gather soon.

The Bend Park and Recreation District’s recreational and competitive adult softball leagues are accepting registration now. In addition, youth softball and lacrosse, canceled for spring play, has been rescheduled for possible summer play.

“We are all going to need active, social activities once this pandemic has subsided to help us recover mentally and physically from this unique situation that has interrupted our normal routines,” said Rich Ekman, sports coordinator. “We can’t wait to give our community the opportunity to get outside and play again soon.”

To register, visit register.bendparksandrec.org.

Metro Competitive Adult Softball: Registration deadline is April 26

The Metro Softball Leagues are competitive softball leagues for adults, ages 18 and older. Umpires are provided, league standings are kept, and regular season and playoff champions are crowned. There are four leagues – Men’s, Women’s, Coed and Senior.

The registration deadline has been extended to Sunday, April 26. Dates and length of the season will be adjusted depending on COVID-19 restrictions.

Teams currently registered will be offered credit if the later start dates don’t work.

Recreational Adult Softball: Registration deadline is May 15

Adult recreational softball leagues offer variable game nights, self-umpired games. Standings are not kept in this league and no playoffs are held. Two divisions will be offered — Men’s Recreation and Coed Recreation. Teams will play one game a week at 5:30 pm or 7:00 pm. Dates and length of the season will be adjusted due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The registration deadline is Friday, May 15.

Youth Lacrosse and Girls Softball: Season moved from spring to summer

Youth softball and lacrosse registered participants will receive information directly from recreation coordinators about possible summer play. The plan is to complete abbreviated seasons from mid-June to August if the Governor’s executive order allows.
