New In Our Backyard short film illustrates realities of human trafficking
BEND, Ore, (KTVZ) -- Bend’s local human trafficking non-profit, IN OUR BACKYARD, has released a short film entitled: Hidden In Plain Sight. The film was created with local producer Benjamin Edwards with Benjamin Edwards Photography.
Hidden in Plain Sight intends to bring awareness to the community by depicting what human trafficking really looks like in America.
During COVID-19, trafficking is not coming to a halt. In fact, IN OUR BACKYARD reports that many trafficking victims have even more pressure to meet quotas and bring in money for their traffickers during this time. This leads to increased dangers for trafficking victims.
Traffickers increasingly use social media to groom and recruit teens as potential victims of trafficking. Especially given youth are online more now that they are at home. IN OUR BACKYARD would like to continue bringing awareness to human trafficking during this pandemic with the help of the short film--Hidden in Plain Sight.
In Our Backyard works to stop and prevent human trafficking throughout the United States. To find out how you can help, go to www.inourbackyard.org or call 541-639-5008.
