Oregon reports no new COVID-19 deaths, 12 new cases – lowest count in 2 months

PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Oregon Health Authority reported no new deaths from COVID-19 on Sunday, for the third straight day and the seventh time in the past two weeks -- and reported a dozen new cases, the lowest daily figure in over two months.

The state’s death toll from COVID-19 remains at at 137.

OHA also reported nine new confirmed cases and three new presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 8 a.m. Sunday, bringing the state total to 3,623, along with 90,733 negative test results.

The new confirmed and presumptive cases reported Sunday are in the following counties: Deschutes (1, for a total of 96), Douglas (1), Lincoln (1), Marion (3), Multnomah (5) and Polk (1).

Deschutes County has now had 96 cases and 3,630 negative test results. Crook County remains at one case and has had 392 negative test results, while Jefferson County remains at 24 cases and has had 607 negative test results.

OHA last reported a lower daily new-case figure, eight, on March 16, along with 13 cases on March 19 and 18 cases on March 24, according to the page of all previous news releases.

OHA Public Information Officer Tim Heider told NewsChannel 21 on Sunday that the latest figures are yey another sign that "Oregonians are flattening the curve."

"But we don't put any significance in one day's results," he added. "We need to continue with physical distancing and staying home when sick and hand washing hygiene and all the other measure we've been doing."

Due to data reconciliation, a confirmed case in Clackamas County was determined not to be a case. The number of cases between 40-49 was reduced by one as a result of this change, OHA said.
