(Update: St. Charles Bend has 4 COVID-19 patients, most in nearly 2 months; new OHA numbers)

Tuesday's data also includes 70 new cases as count approaches 5,000

PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Five more people in Oregon have died of COVID-19, raising the state's death toll to 169, as the state's total case count approaches 5,000, the Oregon Health Authority reported Tuesday.

Oregon Health Authority reported 70 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, bringing the state total to 4,988, along with 148,629 negative test results.

The new confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday are in the following counties: Benton (1), Clackamas (16), Columbia (1), Hood River (6), Lincoln (2), Marion (8), Multnomah (27), Polk (1), Union (1), Washington (7).

Oregon’s 165th COVID-19 death is a 78-year-old man in Multnomah County, who tested positive on May 6 and died on May 27 at his residence. He had underlying medical conditions.

Oregon’s 166th COVID-19 death is a 96-year-old man in Marion County, who tested positive on May 27 and died on June 7 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. He had underlying medical conditions.

Oregon’s 167th COVID-19 death is a 70-year-old man in Marion County, who tested positive on June 5 and died on June 8 at Salem Hospital. He had underlying medical conditions.

Oregon’s 168th COVID-19 death is a 60-year-old man in Marion County, who tested positive on May 21 and died on June 4 at Kaiser Westside Hospital. He had underlying medical conditions.

Oregon’s 169th COVID-19 death is a 96-year-old man in Clackamas County, who became symptomatic on May 31, after close contact with a confirmed case, and died on June 3 at his residence. He had underlying medical conditions.

Deschutes County's revised tally Tuesday was 134 cases (reduced by one due to a case reclassification), of which 117 have recovered, along with 6,618 negative test results. Crook County remains at six cases, with 693 negative test results, while Jefferson County has had 58 cases, with 1,206 negative test results.

The Jefferson County totals include cases on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, where officials on Tuesday reported two new positive cases, for a total of 48, along with 640 negative results, 28 pending tests, three people hospitalized, two discharged and 26 who have recovered.

St. Charles Bend had four COVID-19 patients as of Tuesday, the most since mid-April, St. Charles Health System President and CEO Joe Sluka said in an update to the community.

"Of course, we expected to see hospitalizations increase as reopening began and know that navigating these ups and downs is part of what we at St. Charles are now calling our 'next normal,'" Sluka wrote. "We know that the more people interact, the more likely it is the virus will spread. "
