Missing Sisters resident, 89, found safe
He contacted, asked resident for shelter from cold
SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The search for a missing 89-year-old Sisters man ended successfully early Saturday morning when he contacted an area resident, seeking shelter from the cold, Deschutes County sheriff's deputies said,
The sheriff's office had asked for the public's help early Saturday morning in finding the man, who was believed to have left his home on North Songbird Street some time after 10 p.m.
The public was asked to help look for the man, who has difficulty hearing and suffers from memory loss. They also said he did not have a phone with him and has difficulty walking, Sgt. Deke DeMars said.
The man was located around 6 a.m. after he contacted a resident in the 16000 block of Perit Huntington Road, on the east side of town, "and sought shelter from the temperatures," DeMars said in an update.
The resident immediately contacted 911 and provided the information. Deputies responded and took the man to the hospital for evaluation, the sergeant said.
