University of Oregon to sell fan cutouts for Autzen Stadium
EUGENE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- You might be able to show up at Autzen Stadium this fall, after all.
Well, your picture at least.
No fans will attend any Ducks games this season, but the University of Oregon is taking a page out of the playbook of many sports teams during the pandemic and offering fans a chance to purchase cutouts of themselves to display at Autzen Stadium this season.
The cutouts, which can be purchased on fancutouts.com, will range from $50 for students and 2020 season ticket holders, to $75 for everyone else.
Fans are invited to send photos of themselves in Ducks gear for the cutouts.
Another $25, and the cutout will be sent to you after the season.
NewsChannel 21 spoke with a couple Central Oregon football fans who were excited about the announcement.
Oregon Ducks fan Debbie Courtain said, "I think it would be a fun way to show support of the team and again, try to make something out of a difficult situation."
Kim Leason, an Oregon State Beavers fan, added: "I think it shows team spirit, and I think it shows that we support athletics at the college level, even though we can't be there. I think that the thought of sending a virtual cutout of yourself to sit up there and watch them play, I think it's a really heartfelt gesture toward the athletes."
Oregon State has not yet announced any plans to offer similar cutouts, but Leason said she thinks the Beavers will follow the Ducks' lead soon.
The abbreviated 7-game Pac-12 season kicks off on Nov. 7.
The Ducks and Beavers will meet on Nov. 27.
