Gold mine proposed in Malheur County
PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries said Monday it received a Consolidated Permit Application on Nov. 15 under Oregon’s chemical process mining laws and regulations for a proposed gold mine in Malheur County.
Calico Resources USA Corporation is proposing to construct an underground gold mine, surface mill complex and tailings storage facility at Grassy Mountain, about 22 miles south-southeast of Vale. The site includes both private and public lands managed by the US Bureau of Land Management.
A Notice of Intent was filed on Feb. 28, 2017 and the Environmental Baseline Study Work Plans were finalized on Sept. 22, 2017. Baseline data collection and review remains ongoing, the agency said.

The public will have an opportunity to comment on the application. Notice of a public hearing and comment period shall be provided when the date, location and period allowed for written comment has been established by DOGAMI.
