REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) – An 8-year-old girl was shot and seriously injured by a gun in her southwest Redmond home Monday afternoon, police reported.

Around 3:30 p.m., an adult at the residence in the 2300 block of Southwest 20th Court called Deschutes County 911 dispatchers to summon medics and police after finding the child injured, police Lt. Curtis Chambers said.

Redmond Fire & Rescue personnel rushed the child to St. Charles Bend.

“An investigation is underway,” Chambers said, “and law enforcement is still actively attempting to determine what took place.”

“There is no risk to the public,” he added in a news release.

No further information is anticipated to be released any sooner than Tuesday, the lieutenant said.
