Golf Classic Swings In Thousands For Charity

KTVZ

For some, there’s nothing better than a sunny day and a round of golf with some friends. It’s even better when you can grab your clubs and tee off at the Crosswater Golf Course for a good cause.

Sunday marked the third annual United Way Charity Golf Classic, presented by Sunriver Resort, and what a beautiful, hot and sunny day to hit the green.

NewsChannel 21’s very own Bob Shaw teed off and spent the day on the course.

Not up to golf? People still gathered after finishing on the green for a BBQ and silent auction for $50.

Organizers say the feedback from golfers, supporters, and sponsors is always really positive.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to play on a top 100 golf course and championship golf course. But it’s really about the cause and the sponsors that contribute money that go to the Deschutes County United Way,” said Crosswater Golf Course Club Manager Josh Willis. “Our goal today will be to give back over $20,000.”

More than 90 golfers golfed in the classic Sunday and helped donate to the United Way — that’s the largest attendance in the tournament’s three years.

We are also proud to say that United Way is a 21 Cares For Kids Partner.
