Underage drinking prevention grant awarded

KTVZ

The Deschutes County Children & Families Commission is happy to announce that their grant application for Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws was approved.

A total of $12,000 will be awarded to enhance the community of Redmond’s approach to enforcing underage drinking laws. With the funds, the community will be able to implement additional hours of underage drinking enforcement to help curb parties where underage drinking occurs. In addition, advertising will increase for the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line.

Alcohol is the most prevalent substance used by Redmond area minors. Youth who drink are more likely to become alcohol dependent later in life. The tip line is a partnership between Crime Stoppers and TAPS, and can be used to report drug or alcohol issues throughout Deschutes County.

Please use the number to report planned or active underage drinking parties. Callers may remain anonymous and tips may bring cash rewards. 24-Hour Toll Free Call: (877) 976-TIPS (8477) or e-mail tips@crimestopperscascades.com .
