Man’s Body Found in Redmond Irrigation Canal
A man?s body was found in a Redmond irrigation canal Thursday morning, but police investigators said it appeared there was no foul play and that no crime took place.
Shortly after 8 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 3039 S. Highway 97 (the Norco medical-industrial supply business) on a report of a body floating in the Central Oregon Irrigation District canal behind the business, said Sgt. Curtis Chambers.
Officers confirmed it was a body and the person was deceased, Chambers said. The name of the man was not released, pending confirmation of identity and notification of family, which the sergeant said ?could take several days.?
?The Redmond Police Department believes, at this time, no crimes are believed to be involved and there are currently no suspects,? Chambers said in a news release.
?This may change as the investigation continues,? the sergeant wrote, but added, ?We do not believe the public is in any danger.?
Redmond police are the lead agency in the investigation, assisted by the Deschutes County sheriff?s and district attorney?s offices and the county medical examiner.
