Climber Falls 1,000 Feet on Mt. Hood

Clackamas County rescuers are responding to a report that a climber has fallen on Mount Hood.

KGW reports (http://is.gd/PdBlFy ) dispatchers received a call shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday that one member of a climbing party slid about 1,000 feet at the Hogsback section of the climb near the summit.

Sgt. Brian O’Neill says favorable weather should help rescuers.

About 100 people registered to climb Mount Hood on Thursday.
